Teachers received special training and support with the implementation of the Luck Caulkins Reading and Writing program.
Built on the best practices and proven frameworks developed over decades of work in thousands of classroom around the world, instruction is designed to help students meet and exceed rigorous global standards. Students had opportunities to learn and write Opinion/Argument, Information and Narrative essays which helps them across the curriculum and years ahead.
Students will not only learn how to write these types of essays but they will learn how to write with complexity and sophistication. All instruction is aligned with national learning standards and our methods of teaching promote higher level thinking where students will learn how to synthesize and analyze their work.
For the current school year, our teachers and staff will continue to build on the foundation that we've built in language arts. A second focus area will include new teaching strategies and a new textbook series in math. Our overall goal is to provide our students with a solid foundation in the three major areas of learning, reading, writing and math.
