Technology in The Classroom

Students at Garfield learn how to use computers as a learning tool as well as a tool that can help them in the real world. Garfield students are first introduced to computers in Kindergarten where they play math and grammar games. As students move through the grades, they will learn how to use technology for researching and producing powerpoint presentations, videos and written compositions. This year, teachers have and will continue to receive training on how to implement Google Apps for Education. In this setting, students will learn how to use Google Drive, Docs, Classroom and Slides.

Through Canvas, the district's Learning Management System, teachers will be able to upload, and view assignments or student work online from anywhere they have internet access. Welcome to the 21st Century! These skills will not only help them throughout the remainder of their educational career but also extend out into the real world where computer skills are required.

Some of the computer devices that are currently being used at Garfield are pictured down below.
